Purpose, Goals and Leadership

The Religious Freedom Coalition is a non-profit religious organization which assists persecuted Christians in various areas of the world. The mission of the Religious Freedom Coalition is to inform the American public about the persecution Christian’s face around the world and advocate for their religious freedom.

INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS

Middle East: Persecuted Christians displaced inside Iraq and those who fled Iraq and Syria to Jordan and Lebanon are assisted by the Religious Freedom Coalition through associated native Christian organizations.  Currently, the Religious Freedom Coalition provides programs for displaced Christians in Iraq and Syria and Christian refugees in Lebanon and Jordan. Programs in Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria include but are not limited to Diapers for Refugees and Christmas for Refugees.

The Religious Freedom Coalition works for the rights of Christians in the Palestinian Authority-controlled “West Bank” which includes Bethlehem.  Christians are now a minority in Bethlehem and the Religious Freedom Coalition has programs of assistance for those Christians still remaining there. Programs have included adding air conditioning for a day care facility. The Christmas for Refugees program is also active in areas of the West Bank.

Nigeria: As persecution of Christians increases in Nigeria the Religious Freedom Coalition has begun to bring assistance to suffering Christians in that nation. The Religious Freedom Coalition assists an orphanage for Christian children who lost parents to Islamic terror attacks. Programs at the orphanage included new wells, water towers and sanitation systems as well as the leasing of land for a farm. Sanitary products are also distributed as humanitarian aid in camps for internally displaced persons (IDPs). Tens of thousands of Christian farmers have been forced from their lands by Sunni Muslim Fulani Herdsmen and now live in desperate situations.

IN THE UNITED STATES

Washington, DC: The Religious Freedom Coalition is  an advocate in Washington, D.C. for persecuted Christians in Africa, the Middle East and certain Asian nations.  By such means as direct interaction with lawmakers, letters, phone calls and petition campaigns, the Religious Freedom Coalition seeks to be the voice for the persecuted church and religious freedom in nations that religious persecution exists.

An important part of our mission is to inform the American public about the persecution of Christians around the world. Christians are the most persecuted religious group in the world today. The 50 most dangerous nations for Christians  are in the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

In some cases the Religious Freedom Coaltion operates under the DBA Heart for the Persecuted Church to promote religious freedom and aid programs.

ABOUT THE RFC PRESIDENT

William J. Murray is the president of the Religious Freedom Coalition in Washington, DC. For more than three decades Murray has been at the forefront of social activism. During the early 1980’s he served as director of Freedom’s Friends, an organization which reached out to the victims of communism worldwide.
