Today in most public schools God is not mentioned, and Thanksgiving becomes an historical event rather than a Christian celebration of thanks to God. CURRENT PRESIDENTIAL PROCLAMATION – in 2009 President Obama was broadly criticized for a very short Thanksgiving proclamation with no specific message of “thanks.” This year the President’s Thanksgiving proclamation first thanked, “Native Americans, whose skill in agriculture helped the early colonists survive, and whose rich culture continues to add to our Nation’s heritage.” Obama did get around to mentioning God in the third paragraph.

THE GROUND ZERO MOSQUE – just days before Americans bow their heads to thank a loving God for the nation’s prosperity, the Muslims who want to build a mosque (rabat) at Ground Zero requested funds from the government to assist in its construction. The mosque is in the wrong place and this was the wrong time of year for Muslims to ask for tax dollars for this project. In a further insult, NBC news named the developer, Sharif el-Gamal a “person of the year.”Read more.

OUR TROOPS IN AFGHANISTAN – Anyone who has served in the Armed Services knows how important the USO is. This is the organization that brings entertainers to Iraq and Afghanistan. Without the USO many of our service men and women would have no social lives at all in places like Afghanistan. As Christmas nears you may want to assist the USO in their work. More information.
