Country of Particular Concern status for Nigeria?

The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom issued a statement on June 18, 2025, reiterating the need for Nigeria to be placed on the State Department’s list of Countries of Particular Concern for Religious Freedom.

The statement referred to an attack the previous day on a Catholic Church run IDP camp in Benue State in which over 100 died, mostly women and children. These were Christians who had previously been run off their land by Sunni Muslim Fulani. Tens of thousands of Christians have been displaced in Benue by Sunni Muslim attacks.

Benue State is between 95% and 98% Christians, yet the Nigerian government allows the Fulani to wander the state with their cattle while killing Christian farmers.

Part of the USCIRF statement read: This weekend’s attack is a continuation of the daunting violence Christian farmers have endured over the past three months in the Middle Belt region of Nigeria, intensifying the conflict between Muslim Fulani herders and Christian farmers. The ongoing attacks further exacerbate religious tensions and stoke fear that prevents Nigerians of faith from exercising their freedom of religion or belief. Attackers often target houses of worship, including kidnapping religious leaders with impunity.

Note the use of the word “conflict” in the statement! How is the murder of women and children at an IDP camp by Sunni Muslims a “conflict?”

Why the “white glove” treatment of Nigeria by our State Department? Why won’t the State Department act to call out the murder of Christians in Nigeria?

Sadly, I know the answer: China.

The Deep State, working on the next forever war plan does not want Nigeria, the largest nation in Africa, to align with China. CPC status could move the Muslim President that way.

The United States and China are competing for relationships with mineral rich nations in Africa such as Nigeria. The nature of the Deep State is forever war, and China is the next forever war enemy. This forever war, like the one against Russia has many fronts such as creating a new Mujahideen in Western China to assist the Uighurs in a revolt against the Chinese.

Note: The Uighurs fighting with the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq were by far the most brutal torturers and murderers.

Note: The USA built the Mujahideen in Afghanistan to fight Russia in the 1980s and they became the Taliban that in turn birthed Al Qaeda and the 9-11 attack on the United States.

Skipping the Deep State and going to President Trump on Nigeria

President Trump has a record from his first term of ignoring the Deep State. During his first term President Trump designated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) for Religious Freedom and closed the door for Nigerians travelling to the United States. The Deep State was not pleased.

During President Trump’s reelection bid in 2020, elements of the Deep State in the FBI, CIA, DIA, State Department and even the military worked to undercut his campaign. Why were they against Trump? At the time he was against the United States being involved in forever wars. There was fear and anger amongst the Deep State that Trump was moving “battleground” nations such as Nigeria away from American influence.

Many of the new roads I travel on in Nigeria are being built out by China using money that China loaned to Nigeria. Those roads have moved the needle, and the Deep State needs to move it back. The Deep State will forgive the Nigeria government for allowing jihadists to kill Christians, just as it has forgiven the terrorist who is now “president” of Syria and his Sunni Muslim run “government” allowing the killing of Christians and Shia Muslims.

The Nigeria Post Card to the White House campaign

From the responses I have received I can now estimate that between 10,000 and 15,000 postcards have been sent to President Trump asking him to designate Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) for Religious Freedom. We need to at least double that number.

Last month I was able to mail another 20,000 letters to Christian activists along with a postcard to mail to President Trump. The postcards urge President Trump to add Nigeria to the Countries of Particular Concern for Religious Freedom.

It is identical to the one I asked you to mail to President Trump.

I need to mail at least another 25,000 as soon as possible, but I have not had the funds designated for that purpose. To mail those 25,000 (or more), additional funds are needed. I am asking supporters to designate part of their contribution this month to helping me mail more letters asking Christian activists to contact President Trump about the situation in Nigeria.

Please pray with me that the post cards to President Trump will have influence on his staff and on him. Please pray that President Trump will place Nigeria on the CPC list.

Nigeria: More attacks in Plateau State increase need of aid

Hundreds killed in June: In June the area around Yelwata in Benue State was attacked and over 200 killed by Sunni Muslim Fulani Herdsmen. The Fulani dumped those they had killed into piles and set them on fire. The Nigerian national police have made no arrests.

In Plateau State a group of Muslims travelling to a wedding was attacked and 12 killed in what may have been a revenge attack. The Nigeria national police have arrested 22 suspects.

The Christian Association of Nigeria condemned the attack on the Muslims traveling to a wedding. No Muslim organization has condemned the mass murders of Christians in Yelwata.

Most likely the 22 arrested for attacking Muslims are innocent, but the police had to satisfy Muslim President Bola Tinubu who was “outraged.” However, President Tinubu has no “outrage” for the killings of thousands of innocent Christian farmers so far this year.

“Justice” in Nigeria is a one-way street.

Insulting our Lord

Corporate hatred of Christians: The Qasrawi company published in print and on the Internet adds depicting the Last Supper as the “The Last Snacks Platter.” Qasrawi was promoting the snacks for Eid-al-Adha, that occurred on June 6th this year.

The Qasrawi advertisement features lambs sitting at a table in the way the Last Supper is depicted in Leonardo da Vinci’s famous mural, while snacking on Qasrawi products. For the festival lambs are slaughtered. The implication is obvious!

Eid-al-Adha (Festival of Sacrifice’) is one of the most important festivals in the Muslim calendar. The holiday celebrates the “prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son when God ordered him to.” (Sound familiar?)

The headquarters of the company is in Hebron in the “West Bank.” It is a Palestinian company, but its snacks are popular in Israel and sold in many Israeli stores.

Christians called for a boycott of the company because of the obvious implications of the advertisement but the boycott is being ignored by Israelis.

Hunger in the Holy Land: At right is displayed the contents of one of the Heart for the Persecuted Church food boxes that are distributed to poor Christian families in the Bethlehem area.

There are no Qasrawi products!

The intent of the food boxes is supplemental. In most cases we do not have the ability to furnish all the food needs, but we can help to upgrade diets.

The level of unemployment has financially drained Christians living in the Bethlehem areas. The families we are assisting face chronic illnesses or disability and had few resources even before the current war began.

A tithe of zero income is zero. Most members of churches have stopped their tithes for lack of income. Churches that had aid programs in the past are now unable to offer families help. The worst-case situation is in Gaza. We can assist in Bethlehem, but our programs cannot reach Christians trapped in Gaza.

Note: Church leaders have thanked us for consistency. We have been told that major organizations have helped for short periods and then stop. We have been able to continue our programs for years and expand them with the additional needs.

Our mission in Iraq

A truck being loaded for distribution of
diapers to disabled adults and infants in
Christian villages near the Iraq / Turkish border.

During the horror years of the Islamic State most of the stories in this newsletter were about Iraq. I spent a great deal of my time in northern Iraq near the front lines of the fighting.

While in Iraq I could often hear the artillery fire when I was outdoors. When the Christian militia liberated Qaraqosh, I went with our mission partners to deliver water and food. Firsthand I witnessed the horrid desecration of churches and Christian graves. Ancestral homes were destroyed. The hateful anti-Christian graffiti is set in my memories forever.

I prayed with many of the survivors of the Islamic State attacks. Our ministry supplied millions of diapers to displaced Christian families and held dozens of Christmas events over several years as Christian communities rebuilt.

We still maintain a mission in Iraq, although I have not personally been there for over a year because of the uncertainties of airline transportation.

Our adult diaper program is active. Dozens of adults have their dignity restored by being able to leave their homes.

In very poor areas, we still furnish diapers for infants as well, but not to the extent we did during the displacements caused by the Islamic State.

(Portions of this section had to be removed from our internet site, for the safety of those we currently serve)

We also support evangelical churches in the Duhok area that have many new converts from Muslim backgrounds. There is constant danger for Christians who are from Muslim backgrounds. The official punishment for leaving Islam according to the Quaran is death!

Education programs: One of our programs supplies Bibles and study materials to new Christians. The materials are for the most part published in Arabic in Lebanon and routed through Erbil to Duhok. Pray for new Christians from Muslim backgrounds.

Please pray for the victims of Islamic terror in Nigeria, the Middle East throughout the world and yes, in the United States as well.
