THE GROUND ZERO MOSQUE
A NEW LEADER FOR THE MEGA MOSQUE – RAUF OUT, ADHAMI IN
And yet another description of what it will be
Supporters of the Ground Zero mosque were surprised to see their buddy, Imam Feisal Rauf, suddenly dumped as spiritual leader of what was first called Cordoba House and is now known at 51Park. Rauf and his wife Daisy Kahn moved easily through the cocktail party circuit, schmoozing with wealthy liberals like Mayor Bloomberg and Arianna Huffington. Rauf’s replacement is unfamiliar to them, and his circle of friends may prove to be quite a bit more radical than Imam Rauf’s. The new imam does not even reside full time in the U.S.A.
The new spiritual leader, Shaykh Abdallah Adhami, was born in Washington, DC and received a degree in architecture from a New York university; however, he could hardly be thought of as Americanized. Adhami, who claims to be a lineal descendent of the Prophet Mohammed, was from the age of eight until adulthood trained in sharia law and the Koran in Syria, Egypt, and Morocco. Today, he lives with his family in Damascus, Syria, and travels widely as a lecturer on Islam.
Adhami’s lectures are radical and he has called for converts from Islam to be jailed. His associations are setting off loud alarm bells even among liberal supporters of the mosque. One of his associates is Imam Siraj Wahhaj, the extremely radical leader of a Black Muslim congregation in Brooklyn. Wahhaj was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center. Spewing more anti-American vitriol than the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Wahhaj sells books and tapes at his Brooklyn mosque (which was personally designed by architect Shaykh Abdallah Adhami). In some of these sources, Siraj Wahhaj calls America a “garbage can” and looks forward to the day when America will “…crumble, and there will be nothing. And the only thing that will remain will be Islam.” According to the book Muslim Mafia, Wahhaj told his congregation: “If we go to war, brothers and sisters, and one day we will, believe me, that’s why you’re commanded (to fight in) jihad. When Allah demands us to fight, we’re not stopping and nobody’s stopping us.”
Far from condemning such calls to jihad, Abdallah Adhami praises Wahhaj at his website for Sakeenah, an organization founded and directed by Adhami. Abdallah Adhami may not publicly say vicious things about jihad in America as Wahhaj does, but how can he praise Wahhaj and assist with building him a mosque, without agreeing with the things he says?
Along with new leadership, the description of the mega mosque has morphed once again. At first it was said the Islamic center would have community meeting rooms, restaurants, a pool, many dormitory rooms, and a “prayer room.” Now, the prayer room is planned to be a “prayer space for a congregation of about 1,000” and there will also be “athletic facilities, a day care center, art galleries, an auditorium for cultural events, and a 9-11 memorial.”
GAYS UNHAPPY WITH ADHAMI – As soon Abdallah Adhami’s bent to radical Islam was exposed by right leaning media such as World Net Daily the left, including the homosexual community, began to defend him. That stopped as soon as a lecture by Adhami surfaced on the Internet in which he said homosexuality is caused by family or emotional issues.
Adhami said, “An enormously, overwhelming percentage of people struggle with homosexual feeling because of some form of violent emotional or sexual abuse at some point in their life. Again, not necessarily in their childhood….A small, tiny percentage of people are born with a natural inclination they cannot explain. You find this in the animal kingdom on some level as well.”
The response by homosexuals was instantaneous, because their doctrine states that homosexuals are “born” not created by experiences. On Adhami’s comments Gay City News Editor Paul Schindler said, “They are destructive. They play into old, worn-out stereotypes that somehow there is an illness to being gay.” Schindler said that unless Adhami changes his views “Park51” will have its reputation damaged beyond repair. “It’s a hostile message and one that I think attacks the dignity of gay people,” Schindler said.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a man who sometimes likes to sit on Muslim prayer rugs in his spare time, refused to comment about the dust-up between Adhami and the homosexuals.

OBAMA’S FROZEN REACTION TO EGYPT – Just two years ago Barack Obama delivered a speech at Cairo University lauding the greatness of Islam. This month the streets in front of that university were bloodied as demonstrators rallied to bring down the secular government of Egypt headed by Hosni Mubarak for the last 30 years. The last liberal American president to help get rid of an Arab secular government was Jimmy Carter, who gave us the Ayatollah Khomeini and made Iran the main sponsor of terrorism in the world today.
Even someone as ill versed in foreign affairs as Barack Obama and his sidekick Hillary Clinton realize that toppling the secular government of Egypt, the most populous nation in the region, can lead to yet another center for terror activity in the Middle East and as a result Obama is frozen, unable to do or say anything meaningful about the unrest there. So far his comments have been limited to telling both Mubarak and the demonstrators to “avoid violence.”
While both the left and right media celebrate a “wave of democracy” in the Islamic world, I would point out that the protests are in Tunisia, Yemen and Egypt which are Westward leaning and for the most part secular in nature. There is no move for a “wave of democracy” in the totalitarian hard line Islamic states and in fact Lebanon is in danger of being consumed by the terror group Hezbollah. Nuclear armed Pakistan’s semi-secular government is shaky as well; meanwhile, we have a President who believes that a fast tongue cures all ills. Another speech in Cairo by Barack Obama is not going to cure the ills of the region and our nation appears to be headed to a permanent state of war.
As all liberals do, Barack Obama believes that all conflicts can be avoided with words, that celebrating Islam will make it the friend of the West. In reality it is words that cause conflicts, such as the words in the Qur’an.
DEMOCRATS BRING OUT THE RACE CARD – During the last election dozens of black Republicans ran for offices across the nation and two were elected to Congress. The House Majority Leader, Eric Cantor, is Jewish. The President of the United States is black, and the majority of whites in the United States voted for him. Still, the Democrats try to sell the slander that Republicans are racists and Nazis. We now have Democrats who are even claiming that the same whites who elected Barack Obama don’t want some of his legislation because they are racists. Can you find the logic in that?
Virginia Democrat Congressman Jim Moran (whose home has been visited by the police for domestic violence and who has also been investigated for bribery) is well known for his anti-Semitic comments that are acceptable in his district, as it has a large Islamic component. It was no surprise then that he appeared on the Arabic TV network Alhurra to claim Obama is a victim of racism. In part he said, “In this case a lot of people in this country, it’s my belief, don’t want to be governed by an African-American, particularly one who is inclusive, who is liberal, who wants to spend money on everyone and who wants to reach out to include everyone in our society. And that’s a basic philosophical clash.” Earlier in the interview he said that the people critical of Obama live in southern states which once had slavery. This is the same guy who was investigated for assaulting an 8-year-old black boy whom he thought was too close to his car.
CONGRESSMAN OFFERS BILL ON RELIGIOUS MINORITIES – There is increasing violence and targeted attacks against Christians in various Islamic nations including Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Egypt. Congressman Frank Wolf (R-VA) has introduced a bill to create a special ambassador from the U.S. State Department for religious minorities in these areas of concern.
“If the international community fails to speak out, the prospects for religious pluralism and tolerance in the region are bleak,” Wolf said in introducing the bill. “President Ronald Reagan once said that the U.S. Constitution is a ‘covenant that we have made not only with ourselves, but with all of mankind.”’ Without an international spotlight forcing governments in the region to protect religious minorities, the attacks will continue.
IN GOD WE TRUST – Congressman Randy Forbes (R-VA) has again introduced his resolution to reaffirm ‘In God We Trust’ as our national motto. (H.Con.Res.13). Forbes wants to reaffirm the motto in light of President Obama having stated incorrectly on several occasions that our national motto is E Pluribus Unum. Forbes is the founding member of the Congressional Prayer Caucus. Please call your congressman and tell him about the H.Con.Res.13.
NO TAXPAYER FUNDING FOR ABORTION ACT – After the first full week under Speaker Boehner there was already a change in the atmosphere of the House. With Nancy Pelosi as Speaker no pro-life legislation could reach the floor for a vote. Now, H.R. 3 barring taxpayer funding of abortions has been filed by Speaker of the House John Boehner and other pro-life congressmen including Chris Smith (R-NJ).
In introducing the bill Speaker Boehner said, “A ban on taxpayer funding of abortion is the will of the people and ought to be the law of the land. But current law – particularly as enforced by this Administration – does not reflect the will of the people.” The bill is expected to pass the House but will meet fierce opposition from a very pro-abortion Senate leadership. Senator Harry Reid is a fanatic on the issue of abortion.
CULTURE AND RELIGION
RADICAL MUSLIMS AND THE OTM PROBLEM –
OTM means “Other than Mexican” when referring to non-Mexican people being smuggled into the U.S. from Mexico. In January, U.S. border agents found a radical Muslim cleric who had been deported from Canada and banned from France, in the trunk of a BMW entering the U.S. from Mexico.
Said Jaziri was one of the Imams who issued a death fatwa against a Danish cartoonist who had drawn pictures of the Prophet Mohammed. The car was driven by Kenneth Robert Lawler, an American who was paid $5,000 cash by Jaziri. Oddly enough, Jaziri is not being detained for entering the US illegally, but rather as a “material witness” to testify against Lawler who is charged with “immigrant smuggling.”
SUICIDE BOMBERS AT OUR BORDER? – Well, at least the book is. “In Memory of Our Martyrs” was found this week by the Border Patrol near Casa Grande while looking for illegal drugs. The book, published in Iran, contains short biographies of Islamic suicide bombers as well as their final letters to their families. Homeland security saw no issue with the book, telling news agencies, “At this time, DHS does not have any credible information on terrorist groups operating along the Southwest border.” Let’s review the item above concerning Said Jaziri. The reality is that Homeland Security has lost control of the border and no one in the department seems to even realize that people other than “honest Mexicans seeking a better way of life” are entering the United States illegally.
MUSLIMS: IF WE CAN’T KILL CATHOLICS WE WONT TALK TO POPE – Some leading Egyptian intellectuals, including Al Azhar University head, Sheikh Ahmed el-Tayeb and other members of the Islamic Research Academy, said they would have no further dialogue with the Vatican because Pope Benedict XVI had criticized the murder of Christians by Muslims. The Pope called attention to the fact that “non-Muslims are being oppressed by Muslim states in the Middle East” after the most recent bombing of a Coptic Church that killed 23 Christians. Sheikh Ahmed accused the Pope of interfering in an “internal affair.”
EGYPT ALREADY MOVING TO EXTREME – In an article in the official Egyptian government weekly Al-Liwaa Al-Islami, author Hassan Al-Hafanawi wrote that Israel’s destruction was inevitable because it was prophesied in the Torah, the New Testament, and the Koran. Egyptian authorities blamed “outsiders” for an attack on a Christian church on New Year’s Eve, but the reality is that official government publications attack Israel, Jews and Christians. Verbal attacks on religious minorities in Egypt pale in comparison to the weekly vilifications of Christians and Jews by imams in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq and Saudi Arabia. Criticizing Islam in a European nation or in Canada, however, could result in jail time.
